The BWT Alpine F1 team released their new A522 racecar for the upcoming Formula 1 season. Alpine F1 maintains their blue livery but it’s now augmented with BWT’s pink and the A522 was developed for 18-months in anticipation of F1’s new wide sweeping rule changes in 2022. Alpine sport cars is owned by Renault and 2021 was the debut season of Alpine F1, after previously racing under Renault F1 Team.

“In 2022, we want to show constant progress with comprehensive developments across all sites to ensure we are contenders for the title in the future,” said Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine. “We are going in the right direction and we want to carry on our climb to the summit.”

Alpine F1 maintains the same driver lineup from 2021 with two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso and Estaban Ocon with Oscar Piastri as the team backup driver. Last season the team finished fifth in the Constructor standings with Alonso and Ocon finishing 10th and 11th respectively in the driver standings.

“It’s good to be back and I’ve been working hard to be ready for the new season,” said Fernando Alonso. “The build-up has been a long time coming after the rule change was delayed due to the pandemic. The car looks fantastic with the new regulations in place and I like the new livery. We have a new engine and we’re confident we had a good development in place for this new generation of car.”
