The Pick of the Day is a 1982 Datsun 280ZX with 7,889 original miles that was registered in California by its original owner until July 2021, when it was acquired by the current seller. This highly original ZX is being advertised on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Farmingdale, New York.
“The 280ZX followed the 280Z and was produced from 1978 to 1983,” according to the dealer. “This model (S130) introduced T-top and Turbo options, and was more aerodynamic and stable at high speeds thanks to the smoother front end design.”
Under the front-hinged hood is a fuel-injected 2.8-liter SOHC inline-6 engine that produced a factory-rated 145 horsepower and 156 pound-feet-of-torque. The engine is paired with 5-speed manual transmission featuring overdrive. Track performance wasn’t great: 0-60 mph in 9.3-seconds and a quarter mile in 16.7-seconds.
For historical context, the 280ZX’s key rival, the 1982 Toyota Celica Supra, could go from 0-60 mph in 8.8-seconds and run a quarter mile in 16.7-seconds.
This 280ZX is finished in two-tone Dark Brown Metallic (077) and Orange Mist Metallic (014) with the T-Bar Roof Package and black rear-window louvers.
The tan interior features dual 6-way leather bucket seats with lumbar support, matching carpet and door panels. It’s been optioned with the Grand Luxury Package that features air conditioning, AM-FM digital stereo w/40W power amp, cassette tape deck with auto reverse, and a quartz digital clock.
The sale includes the original owner’s manual, California license plates, sunscreen panels and storage bags, factory tool kit and spare tire.
This Datsun 280ZX is available for $59,900. To view the listing on ClassicCars.com, see Pick of the Day.

Is the car available? Where is it located? How much if selling?
Did you read the entire article, especially the last paragraph? 🙄
I remember when these were new. The color combo was fairly popular. Don’t know about the more aerodynamic front end. No difference from the previous Z’s really.
Cool very cool I’ve had 1 years ago
