The Aston Martin Formula One Team unveiled its 2022 race car that celebrates the team’s 100th anniversary of the team’s first Grand Prix at the 1922 French Grand Prix. It was revealed at Aston Martin’s sports car assembly line at Gaydon and the launch event also highlighted the brand’s DBX707, Valkyrie AMR Pro, and Valhalla.

“Seeing the AMR22 on the assembly line at Gaydon today, alongside our flagship new models like Valhalla, Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro and DBX707, is a great example of how we are creating a culture of engineering excellence at Aston Martin, establishing a dynamic and exciting innovation lab to drive forward future Aston Martin road car technologies and performance,” said Tobias Moers, chief executive officer of Aston Martin Lagonda.

Aston Martin returned to F1 in 2021 after exiting the sport in 1960 and the AMR22 will be driven by four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, and Lance Stroll. Last season the Mercedes-Benz powered AMR21 finished in seventh in the World Constructor’s Championship with 77-points and did not win a race. Vettel drove the AMR21 to the team’s best finish, 2nd place at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on June 6, 2021.

“The return of Aston Martin to Formula One has been a monumental moment for the brand, with transformative impact for our performance credentials and global awareness,” said Lance Stroll, executive chairman of Aston Martin Lagonda. “Through the race team and our status as the Official Safety & Medical Car of Formula One, we have been able to showcase our product and test new technologies on the world’s greatest circuits.”

Round 1 of the 2022 F1 season starts on March 20 at the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Sakhir, Bahrain.
