You know of the various vintage vehicle events staged annually at Goodwood in England — the Festival of Speed, the Revival, the Members Meeting — but it appears now that the heralded place has gone to the dogs. Literally.
Goodwood has announced its inaugural “Goodwoof,” which it calls “a grand celebration of all things dog,” to be held May 28-29, 2022.
“At Goodwood dogs will forever be part of the family,” the announcement reports. “Whether our canine companions are those at home in Goodwood House, at work on the farm, at play in the parkland of the estate or curled up next to us at The Kennels – we love to have them by our sides. Simply put, when our hounds are happy, we are too. We’ve created Goodwoof to share our love of all things dog.”
Events taking place during the Goodwoof weekend include flyball and disc dog, a CaniSports race involving hounds and humans, dog yoga, dog-themed films, and the world’s most luxurious dog house, the Goodwood kennels.
In addition to Goodwoof, Goodwood has offered up additional details about its first Eroica Britannia, the previously announced cycling event scheduled for August 6-7.
Power Tour, Drag Week dates set
MotorTend has announced the dates for the 28th annual Hot Rod Power Tour and the 18th annual Hot Rod Drag Week.
The Power Tour for classic cars and hot rods is scheduled for June 13-17 with a route that goes from Memphis to Atlanta by way of Nashville; Hoover, Alabama; and Pensacola, Florida.
Hot Rod Drag Week and the crowning of the “fastest street car in America” is September 18-23 with events in Memphis, near St. Louis, at Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Steele, Alabama.

Amelia honors racer Chip Ganassi
A week ago, we reported on changes being made to the “The Amelia” by its new owner, Hagerty Inc., but one thing not changing is the event’s honoring of a figure from motorsports. For the 2022 and 27th annual Amelia, that person will be Chip Ganassi.
“Ganassi has touched every major form of North American motorsport plus the ultimate international road race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” the concours said in its announcement. “Ganassi’s legacy extends far beyond being an accomplished driver, he is a decorated race team owner that has fielded highly successful teams in Indycar, NASCAR, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Extreme E.”
Hagerty added that the founder of Chip Ganassi Racing “exemplifies Hagerty’s commitment to save driving.”
Ganassi is a 1982 graduate of Duquesne University who made his Indianapolis 500 debut while still a college student. He had begun racing in 1981 in the Super Vee series and a year later was the fastest rookie qualifier in an Indy newcomer class that also included Bobby Rahal and Danny Sullivan.
Ganassi was injured in a crash in 1984 and retired from driving after the Le Mans race in 1987. In 1990, he founded Chip Ganassi Racing, which became the only team to win the Daytona 500, the Indianapolis 500, the Brickyard 400 and the 24 Hours of Daytona within a 12-month span.
His cars have won the 24 Hours of Daytona 8 times, won 4 consecutive Indycar championships, 4 Indy 500 races, and won at Le Mans.
“Ganassi is also well-known for his transformational charitable work for St Jude Children’s Hospital,” The Amelia noted.
“Honoring a hero from the racing community is an important component of The Amelia DNA,” said Hagerty chief executive McKeel Hagerty. “From the inaugural honoree, Sir Stirling Moss, to the recent celebration of Lyn St. James, The Amelia has anchored the celebration of the automobile to the incredible people who have devoted their lives as ambassadors for driving.”
The 2022 Amelia is scheduled for March 3-6 on Florida’s northeast coast.

Bicester Heritage announces Spring Scramble
