Acquisition provides auction company access to huge collector car marketplace

-

In what seemed like a perfect match of commerce and collector car passion, Barrett-Jackson Holdings –parent of the Barrett-Jackson auction company – in July acquired the Collector Car Network, which includes ClassicCars.com, AutoHunter, the Future Collector Car Show and the Journal

With both companies located in the Phoenix area, Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale and ClassicCars.com in Ahwatukee, the purchase seems like a natural fit.

Barrett-Jackson Auction Company and ClassicCars.com are two of the most-respected companies in the collector car hobby,” Craig Jackson, chairman and chief executive of the auction company said at the time. “Our internationally broadcast live events and their online platforms are unrivaled.

“Working together, we will better serve our booming customer base, as well as attract the next generation of collectors to the hobby. This strategic step has the potential to fuel unparalleled expansion of the collector car market.”

Barrett-Jackson is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding in 1971 and its continuous run of Scottsdale auctions unrivaled for high-energy bidding, attendance records and entertainment features.  The company also hosts auctions in Houston, Las Vegas and Palm Beach, Florida.

Barrett-Jackson has been on the forefront of technology, starting with the popular broadcasts of its bidding and events, then moving into the latest in online connectivity.

Roger Falcione, the founder and chief executive of the Collector Car Network, remains at the helm of the company since the purchase by Barrett-Jackson.

“We see this acquisition as an enormous growth engine for the collector car marketplace,” Falcione said. “Our two companies are perfectly aligned to be the leading resource for car collectors worldwide, including the rising generation of collectors who are evolving the market.”
