AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, always presents diverse examples of sporty American performance cars, and here are four that are coming up during the following week.
Still looking terrific after an older restoration, the hardtop wears a red paint job with a pair of black stripes on its hood and matching red wheels. The interior and underside look just as fresh as the body and paint, as shown in the extensive gallery of photos with the auction listing.
Power is provided by the overhauled original Rocket 350cid V8 fitted with Hedman headers and Rochester carburetion, dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers, and linked with an automatic transmission.
The AC has been converted to 134A, and with a host of new mechanical parts, this Olds seems ready to run.
Beneath the towering hood scoop of this muscle car classic lies a modified 351cid Cleveland V8 that’s been dyno tested at 459 horsepower and 427 pound-feet of torque, the auction seller says, adding that “engine components include an aftermarket camshaft, roller rockers, Holley 4-barrel racing carburetor, MSD Blaster ignition, S&P pully system, Griffin radiator, electronic fuel pump, Sanden compressor, Hooker heads with auxiliary pumps and a McLeod bell housing.”
The engine is bolted to a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual transmission linked with a Detroit Locker-equipped 9-inch differential with 3.70:1 gearing.
Aside from that, the Sportsroof Mustang has had a recent restoration, including a custom PPG paint job.
This sweet-looking Malibu has its original rebuilt 283cid V8 under the hood with a 4-speed automatic transmission, and it wears sparkling Pagan Gold paint over a straight stock body.
The 15-inch steel wheels look authentic (though one seems to be missing its center cap) and the suspension has been restored. The original-looking interior appears in the auction photos to be in nice condition, with some added gauges and a custom steering wheel.
This 2-door sedan would look good at a cruise in and would be a fun driver any time.
The sports coupe needs some work to be road-ready, but the modest auction bidding thus far appears to leave plenty of room for additional expenses.
This T-top example wears its factory Silver Metallic paint over a black interior and is powered by its original 350cid V8 with automatic transmission. The Vette was in storage for a number of years, the seller says, brought back into the sunlight and refurbished earlier this year.
Yet to be done is some electrical work and air-conditioning repair, as well as a few other odds and ends, the seller notes, but the body is very straight with good glass and chrome, and the chassis is rust-free after decades spent in California. Sounds like a doable project for a handy future owner that should bear a good result.
