Classic trucks take over AutoHunter’s auction docket

Racheal finds 5 trucks among the auction house’s Truck Week event that catch her eye

AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, launched its inaugural Truck Week – a docket packed with 12 classic and collector trucks and SUVs with the auctions ending October 19.

The online auction house created the event to celebrate the vintage truck and SUV market’s growing success and its enthusiastic fanbase.

“The truck market has been rapidly on the rise in the past few years, more so than almost any other segment,” said AutoHunter automotive specialist Chris Griggs. “As one of the most mass-produced types of vehicles, they offer a great entry point for many new enthusiasts, while still offering many rare and valuable offerings for seasoned collectors.”

Among the dozen trucks, these are the five trucks and SUVs that piqued my interest:

1975 Chevrolet C20

Kicking off the list is this dry desert find that was discovered in a barn where it sat for almost 20 years. The pickup wears most of its original two-tone Skyline Blue and White paint with its natural patina showing throughout the body.

Under the hood sits the original big block 454cid V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission.

The interior appears to be in decent condition, especially since it’s equipped with the original blue cloth bench seat. It also features a tiger woodgrain overlay trim, air conditioning and vinyl map pockets.

1988 Land Rover Defender

This left-hand drive Defender once spent its days on an olive farm in Italy before it was imported to the U.S. in 2019.

It has been professionally refurbished, finished in a dark green paint with a white hardtop. The body also features cowl vents, a spare tire mount on the bonnet, wing-top diamond plate protection, black fender flares and upgraded LED headlamps.

The interior is fitted with three-across vinyl black bucket seats up front and an open rear tub with a rubber load mat.

Power comes from a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and 2-speed transfer case with a locking center differential.

1968 Chevrolet Suburban

This custom-built Suburban left the factory as a V8-powered half-ton model with two-wheel drive but is now equipped with a 6.0-liter LS-series V8 linked to an automatic transmission.

It’s finished in a custom silver paint accented with a full-length blue fabric roof cover and pinstripe details on the hood, fenders and tailgate.

The interior features black bench seats with black and white patterned inserts, a headliner made from word slates and wood bow bars, manual windows, a Vintage Air AC system, a RetroSound radio and an aftermarket shift knob.

1969 Chevrolet C10

Produced during the C10’s “Action Line” period, this C10 Fleetside pickup is dressed in two-tone blue with matching light blue wheels.

The body wears a single-bar grille proclaiming “Chevrolet” between the halo-style headlights. It also has a black bedliner and tailgate stamped “Chevrolet.”

The all-blue cab features a vinyl bench seat, a floor-mounted manual shifter, dual aftermarket cup holders, a Bluetooth-compatible Sony head unit with CD player and remote and a low-profile steering wheel.

Power comes from a 350cid V8 topped with orange valve covers and a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner.

1959 Chevrolet Apache

Last but not least on this list is this ’59 Series 3100 Apache step-side pickup that received a complete restoration just 4 years ago.

The body received a respray of Midnight Blur Metallic paint and was given new glass all around. Other exterior features include Bear Claw latches, a windshield visor and the fuel tank that’s been relocated to the underside of the wood-slated bed.

The inside of the cab was also restored and fitted with gray vinyl upholstery over the bench seating, headliner and door panels.

Under the hood is a 327cid small-block V8 linked to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission.
