(Editor’s note: During the month of July, the ClassicCars.com Journal is publishing a series of stories about summer road trips. Today, we share the list of the 25 best road trip movies according to Men’s Health and ask you to help us rank them in order of favorite to least favorite.
In addition to our own tales from the road, we’re eager to share your stories about summer road trips you’ve done, with family, in a classic car, perhaps in a classic car when it was just the family cruiser. Please submit your stories and a few photos from your trip to journal@classiccars.com.)
As we gear up to hit the road this summer for some scenic views and fun adventures, we need your help in finding the perfect road trip movies for inspiration.
Men’s Health published a list of, in its opinion, the top 25 road trip-themed movies ever made. Let us know your favorites by upvoting or downvoting the movies below to put them in order of best to worst.
I didn’t understand most of the picks until I saw the age and sex of the author. She might want to check out Wild Hogs and Vanishing Point. Also, The Great Smoky Roadblock and Two-Lane Blacktop.
Seriously, Thelma and Louise and no Smoky and the Bandit.
Yeah man, no two lane blacktop or either vanishing point movies immediately discredits this entire list.
Agreed Michael
Even cannonball run is better than half of that original list
You do realize that the author of this article didn’t pick the 25? It was Men’s Health that did. Check your facts and biases.
It may come as a shock, but women and young people actually like movies and cars too.
If you read the article, you would know that the choices were made by Men’s Health magazine, not the writer.
Two For The Road. Audrey Hepburn.
Grapes Of Wrath. Henry Fonda
The Film Flam Man. George C. Scott
The Searchers. John Wayne. Okay, so it’s on horses…
Two Lane Blacktop. James Taylor. Yes, THAT James Taylor.
The Long, Long Trailer. Desi and Lucy.
The Reivers. Steve McQueen.
Paper Moon. Ryan and Tatum O’Neal.
Great job Justin, a much better list…
Great list Justin
I would have added one of my favorites, ‘Road to Perdition’
“Il sorpasso” is a 1962 movie by the italian director Dino Risi with Vittorio Gassman actor. The film, generally regarded as the director’s masterpiece, is one of the most representative cinematic frescoes of Italy’s prosperity and economic miracle of the Sixties’ era. A beautiful Lancia Aurelia B24 convertible is the protagonist with the star actors. Frames of two lives that cross and end, dramatically. A must see movie.
I agree with Michael and Kyle. Add Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry and Race with the Devil
Best ever American Grafitti, followed by Two Lane Black Top and the Crazy Mary and Dirty Larry. There are no more after that
Morley Brown
Don’t forget international films, too!!! They have rads, too!! e.g. “The Wages of Fear”
1953 ‧ Thriller/Drama ‧ 2h 36m
I vote for “Duel”, Stephen Spielberg’s first feature film, originally shown on television.
I do agree. Absolutely
Come on !! Ya gotta put (the 1986 original) “Hitcher” on this list. A true classic for sure.
“The Hitcher” The orignal1986 version.
Hello ????? American graffetti was the best show EVER !!!!!!
