Toyota to offer 600-unit 2022 Supra A91-CF edition coupes

Carbon-fiber body kit, 382 horsepower and NASA driving instruction part of the limited-edition package

-

Toyota has announced it will produce a limited run of 600 2022-model-year GR Supra A91-CF edition sports coupes, the CF short for carbon fiber. The cars will be exclusively available in the North American marketplace, Toyota added.

Like the performance-oriented 2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing 86, the GR Supras A91-CF cars will come with a one-year membership in the National Auto Sport Association and high-performance driving instruction.

Special equipment on the A91-CF cars includes a carbon-fiber body kit and duckbill rear spoiler, 19-inch matte-black wheels with red brake calipers, and red-and-black Alcantara-and-leather seating.

Power is to be supplied by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6-cylinder engine rated at 382 horsepower. Toyota says to expect a 0-to-60 mph sprint in 3.9 seconds. The car comes with an 8-speed Z-F automatic transmission with paddle shifters, adaptive variable sport suspension, active rear sport differential, and front Brembo brakes.

The cars will be available in the fall of 2021. Pricing for this next Supra will be announced closer to the cars’ arrival at Toyota dealerships.

  1. Pfffttt. Automatic transmission. No thanks.

And before anyone jumps me about how the automatics or automated-manuals shift faster, that’s not the point. It’s taking pride in doing a good job driving, not just steering.

And it’s a lot more fun.

I’ll stick with my 2020 Accord Sport 2.0 with the six speed stick, thanks. Tons of fun.
