Mecum Auctions makes its first trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 11-12 for an inaugural sale with about 600 collector cars, trucks and motorcycles expected to cross the block.
The auction, held at Tulsa’s River Spirit Expo, joins 11 other collector car auctions on Mecum’s 2021 calendar, as well as sales focused on vintage motorcycles, antique tractors and farming gear, and Road Art memorabilia.
As with most Mecum auctions, there are a number of private collections represented in Tulsa, including the Elkin Brothers Collection, an eclectic group of 14 collector vehicles, among them a 2005 Ford GT with all four available options, two 1970 Chevrolet Chevelles – one of them a big-block convertible – and three classic Ford Broncos.
Most of the 24 vehicles from the Rick Holland Collection will be offered at no reserve, with the selections including a custom 1957 Chevrolet 210 hardtop in Dusk Pearl and Bel Air trim, a pink 1957 Ford Thunderbird, a 1973 Ford Bronco Sport and a 1959 Willys utility wagon.
The York collection at the Mecum sale includes 14 cars reportedly in exceptional condition, including a 1931 Austin American coupe and a 1955 Chevrolet custom pickup.
All but four of the 13 cars in the Dick Ray Estate Collection will be sold at no reserve. This group spans the decades with such offerings as a 1921 Ford Model T pickup, a 1933 Chevrolet Master Sedan, a 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS and a 1996 Dodge Viper GTS coupe.
Other notable Mecum consignments include a 1970 Plymouth Cuda hardtop with a V-Code 440 6-BBL engine and automatic transmission that is one of the mostly highly optioned V-Code 1970 Cudas anywhere, boasting 37 factory options. Also crossing the block will be a 1957 Ford Thunderbird F-Code, one of 196 produced and said to be in sparkling condition after a four-year nut-and-bolt restoration using rebuilt original and NOS parts.
