Kit insulates floor of early Miatas

Pre-cut interior kit is designed to reduce heat and road noise

First- and second-generation Mazda Miatas are still affordable and increasingly popular for restoration or updating. With that in mind, Design Engineering Inc. has produced an interior insulation kit for the 1990 to 2005 MX-5 sports cars.

Made from DEI’s Under Carpet Lite insulation material, the pieces are designed to fit the Miata floor beneath the carpeting while blocking heat and noise to make for an even more enjoyable driving experience.

“Whether your padding is worn out or you just want to upgrade your Miata’s interior, our DEI under-carpet kit does the trick,” according to DEI product manager Mike Buca. “CNC-cut to precisely match the vehicle floor, it offers easy installation and years of trouble-free use.”

The six pieces of Under Carpet Lite material are a half-inch thick, have self-adhesive backing, and are pre-cut to fit. The kit is priced at around $175.
