In an ad marketing its 1964 Wildcat convertible, Buick asked us, “Should only strong steely-nerved men be permitted to drive this ’64 Wildcat?”
“The only reason we raise this question is because we’re talking about the toughest, meanest, most impatient Wildcat Buick’s ever bred,” the ad continues.
Obviously, the answer is no, but we can’t deny the amount of power the Wildcats came equipped with.
AutoHunter, the premier online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, has one of these 1964 Buick Wildcat convertibles up for auction.
The Wildcat is finished in white with a red cloth soft top and red-painted pinstripes running along each side of the car. You’ll find the scripted Wildcat badges on the rear quarter panels.
The all-red interior is fitted with vinyl bucket seats and a matching full-length center console with aluminum trim. It comes with factory air condition and a push-button AM radio.
Powering the car is the 401cid “Nailhead” engine that was factory rated at 325 horsepower. The engine is equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor and Wildcat 445 air cleaner. Power is sent to the rear through a 2-speed automatic transmission with a console-mounted shift lever.
The odometer reads 42,000 miles, although true mileage is unknown.
