6th Annual Future Collector Car Show canceled

Rise in coronavirus cases in Arizona halts for 2021 show focused on the future of the hobby

In response to the latest surge in the coronavirus pandemic, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has restricted large gatherings to no more than 50 people. As a result, ClassicCars.com has canceled its 2021 Future Collector Car Show, which had been scheduled for April 11 at High Street in Phoenix.

This would have been the sixth edition of the annual event which last year drew 125 entries and more than 12,000 spectators.

“We at the Collector Car Network (parent company of the Future Collector Car Show and ClassicCars.com) had every intention of hosting a safe and successful event,” said show organizer Rebecca Nguyen.

However, she added, “Over the last few weeks, we have seen such a dramatic change in the environment for live events which has put us in a tough place.

“Our team has been fortunate to not have felt the effects of COVID-19 as heavily as many others.  With that in mind, we are focused on being part of the positive outcomes that result from the restrictions for large gatherings.  The safety of our community is our number one priority.

So with a heavy heart we have made the tough decision to cancel the 2021 Future Collector Car Show with the 2022 event date to be determined.”

She added, “Every year we have seen continued growth and anticipated continued growth again this year.

“High Street has been working with our Future Collector Car Show team throughout the process, also with a focus on safety.  The venue contains several local restaurants and businesses that have been pushing through despite these uncertain times.  Open and spacious, we encourage our would-be attendees to make a trip to High Street and support the local businesses there that have continued to support the Future Collector Car Show.”
