Nine valuable cars from a prestigious collection will be offered in the UK-based sale

A collection of “nine coveted and magnificent automobiles” from the European Sporting & Historic Collection have been consigned for Gooding & Company’s Geared Online auction, starting January 28 and running through February 5.

The all-online auction will be based in the UK where all lots will be available for pre-auction inspection, the company said in a news release.  Gooding’s first sale outside North America was held recently at Hampton Court Palace in London, with more than $44 million in sales.

“I have admired this incredible selection of cars over a period of time and am delighted to have secured them to form the first European based online auction for Gooding & Company,” said Joe Twyman, Gooding’s UK specialist. “Carefully curated by the current owner who had a fastidious eye for presentation and detail, this diverse selection offers a great opportunity for a wide range of tastes and interests.

“Each of the cars has its own individual outstanding qualities and as such we have worked hard together with our consignor to create a sale that reflects and does justice to this wonderful collection.”

Leading the Gooding sale is a 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT, a race-bred performance coupe and one of just 75 produced by the British automaker.  The estimated value is £2 million to £2.5 million ($2.72 million to $3.39 million).

“This example retains its matching-numbers engine per factory records and benefits from a no-expense-spared restoration by marque specialist RS Williams Ltd. in 2020,” according to the release. “Presented in its striking original color scheme of Black Pearl over Dark Blue interior, this DB4 GT is replete with extensive service and restoration records as well as a detailed history.”

Another Aston Martin on the Gooding docket is a 1963 DB5 convertible, a fully restored example being offered for the first time for public sale.  One of just 123 DB5 dropheads produced, it is valued at £750,000 ($1.02 million) to £1 million ($1.36 million).
