Audi launches its 2021 R8 model line with an exclusive R8 Panther edition that will be limited to 30 units with special details for the rear-driven, V10-powered sports coupe. The cars are due in Audi’s US dealerships during December.

The 30 Panther models will get Panther Black crystal effect paint with carbon exterior mirror housings, 20-inch wheels with red trim, black Audi rings and badges, carbon interior and exterior packages, black leather interior with Crimson red stitching, racing-shell seats with Nappa leather surfaces, diamond-stitched Alcantara headliner, sport exhaust system with sound-amplifying technology, and Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Audi said R8 Panther chassis have been adapted for rear-wheel drive from their usual quattro setup with solid rather than hollow axles, stiffer front anti-roll bar and increased negative camber at the rear.

In addition, “The electromechanical power steering – free of torque steer – enables precise handling and driver feedback. For a heightened driving experience, the driver can choose ‘dynamic’ mode in the standard Audi drive select and set the Stabilization Control ESC to ‘sport’.”

Audi also did an RS 5 Panther edition in 2019, offering 100 units of that model.

The R8 Panther is powered by a naturally aspired 5.2-liter V10 rated at 532 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. Audi says the car will sprint to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds on its way to a top track speed of 201 mph.

Manufacturer’s suggested retail pricing for the 201 R8 Panther is $183,300.
