Historic Sportscar Racing sets its 2021 calendar

Monterey Reunion, Barber test day join Watkins Glen as new to the schedule

-

Historic Sportscar Racing has announced a 10-event schedule for 2021 that includes its new role as sanctioning body for the Rolex Motorsports Reunion during Monterey Car Week in August.

While the event in August at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is new to the calendar, the schedule also includes the 43rd running of the “Mitty,” scheduled for April 21-25.

The vintage racing group’s 2021 schedule begins March 31-April 2 with the Spring Flint and Sebring, Florida. In 2021, the event will run Wednesday through Friday so competitors can be home for the Easter holiday weekend, HSR noted.

The Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta follows, with Corvette as the featured marque, which means both a special Corvette parade lap as well as a Corvette-only feature race.

The Barber Historics at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama are scheduled for May 20-23, and include a new Thursday test day.

A non-racing event, the Ridge Runner Rally, is scheduled for June 14-18 in the Great Smoky Mountains.

HSR will be at Watkins Glen, New York, for the Finger Lakes Invitational, a July 9-11 event being co-sanctioned with Masters Historic Racing. The inaugural event was planned for 2020, but was postponed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Monterey Pre-Reunion practice begins August 6 with the Reunion the following weekend.

HSR will take part in the 36th Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival, September 17-19 at Road America in Wisconsin, where it shares the track with the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association’s cars.

The Fall Historics are scheduled for September 23-26 at Road Atlanta. The HSR Classic Daytona races are scheduled for October 27-31 in Florida, followed December 1-5 by the HSR Classic Sebring 12 Hour “Pistons and Props,” a celebration of racing cars and vintage aircraft and also in Florida.
