Variety, they say, is the spice of life, and that seems to apply to the eclectic nature of many car collections, as well as the variety of cars already consigned to AutoHunter, the new collector car online auction website that, like the ClassicCars.com Journal, is part of the Collector Car Network.

The first group of cars offered on the site closes September 21, but with more cars added daily, bids also close on September 22 and 23.  Today, we take a closer look at those vehicles, then offer some notes on the bidding process. 

Bidding closes September 22

2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible β€” Powered by a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 linked to a 6-speed manual transmission featuring a Hurst short-throw shifter, the car rides on Z/28 anniversary-edition wheels and has a 12-disc CD changer.

1960 MG MGA roadster β€” This classic British roadster in Irish Blue has a rebuilt 1,620cc 4-cylinder engine linked to an upgraded transmission: a 5-speed Ford T9 unit. The factory windshield is installed but the car comes with a sleek racing windscreen as well.

2007 Porsche 911 Targa 4 β€” Equipped with the Sport Chrono Plus feature, as well as all-wheel drive and a retracting glass roof.  

1996 Ford Mustang Cobra convertible β€” Driven only 5,000 miles since new, this SVT Cobra droptop is one of only 362 in Laser Red Metallic over a black leather interior.

1968 Jaguar XKE β€” This Series 1.5 coupe was restored in 2017 and wears British Racing Green paint with black leather interior. It carries its original 4.2-liter inline-6-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. 

1968 Chevrolet Corvette convertible β€” Not just any Corvette convertible but one of only 624 with an L89 427/435 with a 4-speed manual transmission, and it already has gone through a complete restoration process.

1977 Chevrolet C20 Scottsdale β€” This pickup truck is a Camper Special Deluxe model with a big-block 454cid V8 engine and special factory-installed equipment to carry a slide-in camper. 

1957 Ford Thunderbird β€” The T’bird is done in Raven Black over black-and-white interior and has a D-code 312cid V8 and 3-speed manual transmission.

1987 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL β€” Red over tan with convertible top and removable hardtop.

1930 Chevrolet panel truck β€” Restored to its original glory, even with hand-painted re-created florist murals, this truck has been a Vintage Chevrolet Club of America award winner.

1994 Mercedes-Benz S350D β€” The D stands for Diesel, as in the 3.5-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine that has powered the sedan for 49,000 miles.

Bidding closes September 23

1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 β€” This Summer special-edition model has been driven only 3,000 miles since new. Not only does it have a 5.0-liter V8 engine, but the engine is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission.

1969 Oldsmobile 442 β€” This 442 has a 400cid V8 with a 4-speed manual transmission and the W30 suspension package.

1990 Mazda RX-7 convertible β€” This rotary-powered convertible is another low-mileage vehicle, driven only 15,000 miles to date and has been owned by the same person for the past 30 years. 

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air β€” The vintage 2-door hardtop has a rebuilt 350cid V8 engine, 4-speed Muncie transmission, and upgraded suspension and brakes. 

1948 DeSoto S10 convertible β€” This is the Deluxe model, already restored and done in white over a two-tone brown and cream interior with cream-colored convertible top.

1996 Porsche 911 Carrera convertible β€” One of the acclaimed 993 Porsche models powered by an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-6-cylinder engine. Car has had the same owner for the past 20+ years.

2006 Pontiac Solstice β€” This two-seat roadster has been driven only 7,000 miles since new.

1976 Ford Mustang II β€” The downsized Mustang wears cream yellow paint with a tan vinyl roof and has a V6 engine with automatic transmission.

2005 Chevrolet SSR β€” This retro-styled pickup is powered by a Corvette-derived 6.0-liter LS2 V8 and has been driven only 16,000 miles since new.

1984 Porsche 928S β€” The front-engine Porsche sports coupe has a 4.7-liter V8 and 5-speed manual transmission.

How to bid

To bid on the cars above, or any of the other vehicles consigned to AutoHunter, go to the AutoHunter website and create an account. You will then be contacted by email and asked to share credit card information. However, there will be no hold on your card until you place your first bid, and then no charges unless you place the winning bid on a vehicle. 

At that point, you will be notified of your winning bid and will be charged that amount plus a 6.5 percent buyers fee. However, the buyer’s fee will not exceed $6,500 regardless of the price of the vehicle.

If the vehicle does not sell at auction, it automatically lists for sale on the ClassicCars.com Marketplace site.
