Looking for a great drive after being cooped up for weeks, but worried about where to eat or where to refuel, or even where to empty your personal tank? The Hagerty Touring Series hopes to help, and has worked with the Rallista app (for IOS and Android and available on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch).
“The Hagerty Touring Series offers Rallista app users the chance to embark on unique driving routes in some of the country’s most picturesque destinations,” the collector car insurance, valuation and lifestyle company said in its announcement.
“On the app, Hagerty route masters provide multiple road options, fuel and washroom stops, and notable food/beverage stops. Each month, 5 new routes will be added to the Touring Series for five cities.
The series launched with drives based in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada; Charlottesville, Virginia; Dohlonega, Georgia; Greenbush, Wisconsin; and Santa Barbara, California.
The Wisconsin trip master notes that route can be driven in 3½ hours, that pavement quality may suffer on more remote sections (so slow down), that fuel is sufficient along the way — though washrooms may be difficult to find at the moment — and suggests you stop to dine at Ardy and Ed’s Drive In, an Oshkosh landmark since 1948 where car-hops still serve you on roller skates.
As for the Greenbush route, it’s a “journey over rolling hills, through forested twists and alongside unique rock structures,” all within a half-day travel.
There are links to a touring series community so you can communicate with other travelers, and the app lets you set up your own drive route and to share it with others.
