The Pick of the Day is a 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo coupe described as a low-mileage survivor in great condition that has been well-maintained with its original factory equipment.
The ZX is “a garage-kept Florida car from new with only two adult owners,” according to the Atlantic, Georgia, dealer advertising the car on ClassicCars.com. “Excellent original paint, body and interior. Everything works as it should. Drives great… with no known mechanical needs.”
The twin-turbo ZX launched in 1989, a sleekly aerodynamic improvement over its predecessor, with its boosted V6 engine packing 300 horsepower and 283 pound-feet of torque. Although the GT is no lightweight, at nearly 3,400 pounds, it will roar to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, according to period road tests.
This Nissan has the desirable five-speed manual transmission for fun and performance. It also sports the optional T-top roof that was popular in its day but which makes it now look like a disco-era throwback.
The Nissan’s gleaming factory pearlescent paint shows the effort made in keeping this car original and on the road, with the seller describing recent front end and engine work, and a replacement stock exhaust. The originality has been kept to the extent that while the audio system’s speakers and amps were professionally rebuilt, and the unrepairable factory radio replaced by an aftermarket unit, the original non-working Bose radio was saved and is included with the sale.
These cars are recognized by younger collectors as a classic of Japanese GT production, along with the Toyota Supra and Mitsubishi 3000 GT. This one is a rare find with just over 67,000 miles and in apparently immaculate unmodified condition.
These 300ZX cars in two-seater configuration have been gaining ground as collector cars (the ungainly 2+2 version with longer wheelbase is far less valued) and this one is fairly priced at $18,900.
