The Elegance at Hershey, a three-day event that harkens to collector car events of the 1950s and ‘60s, takes place this weekend in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and should prove to be another great year for this event.

It kicks off Friday with The Grand Ascent, a vintage-style hill climb for pre-war and early post war cars from the Vintage Sports car Club of America competing for the fastest time up the hill. While not strictly a race, the hill climb is quite competitive and a great opportunity to see historic sporting cars driven in anger.

The Great Ascent continues Saturday, which also marks the introduction of a new event for the weekend — The Concorso Bizarro. This is a concours for the best of the worst — think Ford Pintos, Yugos, Pacers, and the Cadillac Cimmaron to name a few. The Concorso Bizarro is at the same location as the Grand Ascent, so one ticket gets you into two events!

Saturday also has a number of car collecting seminars on topics ranging on everything from Automotive Art to the Milton Hershey story. One we will be sure not to miss is one by the Keno Brothers on their history in collecting both cars and furniture.

If you have already eaten too much chocolate by Saturday morning, how about some exercise? Well, Hershey has something for you with the Elegance Challenge 5K foot race.  Besides just getting a good workout, all 5K participants get a free admission to the Grand Ascent and Concorso Bizarro.

Saturday’s schedule ends with the gala dinner and charity auction, the see and be seen event of the weekend.

Sunday is the main event — The Elegance, a concours in a garden setting. Some of the finest classic automobiles in the world will be on the lawn for one of the great concours events in the United States.
