Phoenix (Oct. 14, 2014) — In the spirit of Halloween, ClassicCars.com, the world’s #1 marketplace for collector cars, recently polled its visitors to determine the scariest TV and Movie vehicle of all time.  Christine, Stephen King’s indestructible Plymouth Fury with a sinister personality, took top honors.

Coming in at #2 is the menacing, rusty 1953 Peterbilt tanker truck from Steven Spielberg’s Duel.  The 1971 film, Spielberg’s first feature-length movie, featured a salesman played by Dennis Weaver being stalked on rural roads by the truck.  The viewer never sees the driver, which made the Peterbilt look like it was driving itself, honking its loud, terrifying horn on its own.

Rounding out the top three is The Munsters Mobile, otherwise known as the Munsters Koach.  While the TV show itself was a comedy, the customized Ford Model T looked like a hot rod coffin on wheels.  Built by well-known TV and movie car builder George Barris, The Munsters Mobile was actually three Ford Model Ts cut up and assembled by hand into one seriously creepy family car.  The fact that the show was aired in black and white only adds to the eeriness.

“While there’s no doubt that Christine is a very scary vehicle, we were a bit surprised that the truck from Duel and the Munsters Mobile made the top three,” said Roger Falcione, CEO of ClassicCars.com.  “Either way, this was a very fun poll to host and we always enjoy the feedback from our website visitors.”

The following are complete results of the ClassicCars.com poll:

Christine – 46 percent

The 1953 Peterbilt from Duel – 18 percent

The Munsters Mobile – 9 percent
